YouTube Tests New Product Tags for Shorts, Expands Music Options for Shorts Clips

YouTube has begun a new pilot program with selected creators in the US, which will see product tags displayed within Shorts. Shorts creators will also be able to include more than 15-seconds of popular music clips in their Shorts clips. Users in US, India, Brazil, Canada, Canada and Australia can now shop for products in the app. It's another step in YouTube’s development of enhanced monetization pathways for short-form creators. The company has already announced a new ad program, with a percentage of all revenue generated split with creators based on Shorts performance, but direct monetization could be a more lucrative and direct way to allocate funds to creators. It could also be a key element in YouTube's favor, as the battle for creative talent heats up This is good news for creators as it signifies an increasing trend of blue-chip brands getting involved and experiencing the metaverse first hand. More companies means more opportunities and demand for creators to participate in, and contribute to, incoming brand's projects.
