Musk Looks to Revamp Subscriptions, Considers Bringing Back Vine in First Twitter Moves

Elon Musk is reportedly looking to make significant headcount reductions at Twitter HQ. He is also reportedly considering bringing back Vine to compete with TikTok. Senator Chris Murphy has called for a review of the Twitter deal by the Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) to analyze the role Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has played in funding Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Senator Murphy is calling for the deal to be reviewed by CFIUS committee. Twitter is set to make some big moves soon, on its subscription options. The deal is unlikely to be reversed as a result of a review, but it could be reversed if a review is carried out. Senator is also calling for a return of Vine to be re-released in the coming months. This is important news for creators as it indicates that Twitter is considering making changes to its business model and that there could be potential consequences (such as a reversal of the acquisition) if these changes are not approved by CFIUS. This further strengthens the argument for increased regulation of tech companies, in order to protect creators from exploitation by bigger companies.
