Discord is starting to test a new Premium Memberships feature that will allow creators to monetize their Discord servers. An initial pilot is going live today with around 10 creators who will be able to pay to access a range of channels or servers. The feature will be fully native to the platform, with a 90 / 10 split with creators. It's not clear how this revenue split will work if people subscribe on mobile, and right now it's only on desktop and browser clients. It’s something Discord is looking to its communities to help shape these memberships during this trial phase. This is great news for creators as it signifies Discord's commitment to supporting them and their content. This new feature will allow more people to access creator's channels and experiences, which in turn will help generate more interest in and engagement with those channels.
